Preparing for a new 40K campaign, I am looking to get my Necrons on the table. I have gone through several different paint schemes and I think I threw caution to the wind on this one. I was thumbing through the Necron codex, looking for some color inspiration and settle on the Novokh Dynasty paint scheme. I like the metal combined with some other color. I hadn’t considered a red or dark brown color before, but after starting my test model, I like the result a lot.
I started with a black prime coat. Over that, I airbrushed on Reaper Master Series Auburn Shadow. I was planning to zenithal highlight with Reaper Master Series Carrottop Red, but I like how rich this color looks. With the darker metal, the gold and the bright green, I am in a very happy place with this scheme. I think what I am going to do is add Carrottop Red as an edge highlight. I’ll try that and see how it works out.
I still have a few things to work out. For instance, the panels that come off of the bottom platform that run parallel to the main body. I’m not sure whether they should get the Auburn Shadow, the metal, or a two-tone. I even considered adding a very light grey. But I need to figure that part out. I will add more models as more models get completed. I wanna finish this Annihilation Barge to completion before I pick up another model.
