Yesterday was a day stoked in anticipation. I had been tracking a recent ebay purchase and was overly delighted to see that it was out for delivery a day early. Needless to say, I was completely distracted at work, checking the tracking number on the Post Office’s website every hour on the hour. And just to give me a swift kick in the balls, traffic was a mess on the way home!
Alas, I arrived home and saw the most beautiful sight!
My Necron reinforcements were in that box! Two boxes of Canoptek Wraiths and a Triarch Stalker! Being that I immediately put the box in the house – as not to alert the wife to my recent spending – I rushed out of the house to my local Games Workshop to play some War of the Rings without cracking the box open.
I got back to the house about 9pm and hug out with the wife and kid. After the girls went to bed, I stalked to my mancave, and with a diabolical laugh of evilest proportions, I took a hobby knife to the tape and subsequent plastic wrapping. By this time, it was closer to 12:30 a.m. and I needed to get up in the morning to go to work.
But the chitterings started again.
Like a swarm of scarabs destroying the armor of the most heavily armored armor, my mind wall was broken down and I was immediately in search of some clippers, hobby knife, sandpaper, glue, toothbrush and soapy water.
By 1:30, my first Canoptek Wraith was assembled and my basing theme selected. By now, I was marveling at the model kit. Large, menacing, metallic monstrosity . I LOVE it! I have put aside today to play some Xbox with my daughter, but tomorrow evening and throughout the weekend, I will don the rubber gloves and assemble some heavy metal in my workshop.
